Dallas, TX- The UNTD battled USAO, but fell to the Drovers 69-53 in their conference home opener. The Trailblazers started the game strong with a first quarter lead of 19-14 while shooting 58% from the field, and they carried that lead into half-time leading 30-26. Going into the half, the Trailblazers shot 48% from the field.
In the second half it was rebounds and second chance points that turned the game around in the Drovers favor. USAO out rebounded the Trailblazers 46-32 which lead to 33 second chance points to the Trailblazers 9. The third quarter also slowed UNTD's shooting where the Trailblazers shot just 3-16 from the field.Â

Kaylyn Minor led the team in points. The sophomore from Garland, TX, had 13 with 2 steals and 3 rebounds. Senior
Kayla James contributed 11 points, 4 rebounds while also handing out 7 assists. Alyssa Pendley and
ZyUnn Cormier followed up with 9 and 8 points.Â
The Drovers saw 3 players in double digits. Leading all scorers was Diaka Berete with 18 points. Lainey Morrow had a double double contributing 17 points and added 17 rebounds. Brayanna Polk added 14 points for the Drovers.
The Trailblazers had a quick turnaround and headed to San Marcos for an exhibition contest on Sunday, December 3rd.
ZyUnn Cormier led all scorers with 22 points. The senior from Dallas, TX also had 7 rebounds and 3 steals in the loss to Texas State.Â
UNTD women's basketball is back in conference action on December 9, as they head to McPherson, KS where they take on the Tigers of Central Christian College.Â
