4/17/2026 1:18:00 PM

DALLAS – University of North Texas at Dallas athletics recognized student-athletes as part of Blazer Day Campus Awards Banquet on Thursday night. Members from cross country, men's basketball, and women's basketball were presented awards from the team's successful seasons in 2025-26. This was the first time UNTD Athletics was able to share its recognitions with the greater campus community and are thankful to be part of an event exemplifying UNT Dallas campus values and that we are "better together."

Cross Country
Most Valuable Player - Most valuable athlete across the board. Practiced well, competed well and showed a very high rate of consistency throughout the season. Also demonstrated leadership qualities that were central in the success of our season.

Men's Recipient – Santos Vega
Women's Recipient – Naomi Peregrina

Character Award - Lived up to the hype daily. Displayed character even when it was difficult and encouraged their teammates by how they carried themselves.

Performance Award - Competed consistently (even though we only had 3 meets to run in). Showed up all three meets and put their very best effort out regardless of the elements or difficulty of the course.

Men's Recipients – Major McGill, IV / Skylar Evans
Women's Recipient – Madison Blanch

Newcomer of the Year - New to the team, school, or new to cross country and fit like a glove. They overcame "first year" obstacles and had a huge impact on the team's success.

Men's Recipient – Korey Grant

Honorable Mention - Every athlete on our roster contributed to the success of the team. These athletes, however, are not considered "cross country" type athletes, but they helped where there was a need and were instrumental in a third place finish for the men's and women's team.

Men's Recipients – Ernest Ayanugo / Keilond Wright
Women's Recipient – Jarina Williams

RRAC All-Conference – Placed top 15 at RRAC Championships.
