DALLAS – University of North Texas at Dallas cross country announced its 2026 schedule. Under the direction of second-year head coach Darvis "Doc" Patton, the Trailblazers feature five competitions leading up to the Red River Athletic Conference Championships and NAIA Championships.
 
Coach Patton in his first season prepared the Trailblazers to a third place finish in the Red River Athletic Conference and saw incremental improvements during a shortened season.
 
This campaign contains several local and regional contests and will be highlighted by the team's first home meet on October 23.
 
The season opens on September 5 at UT Tyler XC Opener. Less than a week later, the Trailblazers will be at Gerald Richey UTA Invitational where the host school is NCAA Division I.
 
After a break the rest of the month, the calendar flips for a stretch of three races in October. The trio of races begins October 3 at SU Showdown on the campus of NCAA Division III Southwestern University. On Oct. 17, the Trailblazers return for the prestigious DBU Old Glory Gallop at Athletic Performance Ranch that is hosted by NCAA Division II Dallas Baptist University. The month ends with UNT Dallas Glo Run, which will be the cross country team's debut to compete a race on campus and expects to feature a color run.
 
The Red River Athletic Conference Championships is November 7 in San Antonio, Texas, and hosted by Texas A&M-San Antonio. The Trailblazers men's and women's teams placed third as a team last year, the highest place in a conference championship. Both teams also had runners capture the cross country program's first all-conference honors.
 
The NAIA Cross Country Championships are November 20 at Vancouver, Washington, at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
