OKLAHOMA CITY -- The downward slide continued here Saturday (Jan. 29) for the struggling University of North Texas at Dallas basketball teams during a visit to Oklahoma City University.
Both Trailblazers teams suffered their fifth consecutive defeats.
For the men, it was a frustrating replay of Thursday's game against John Brown in which they led early before things headed south in the second half. With their fast finish, the host Stars registered a 75-63 victory that dropped UNTD to 4-12 in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings. Josh Howard's Trailblazers led 38-32 at halftime but were outscored 43-29 in the second period.
Christian Plummer led the visitors scoring with 16, followed by
Larry Rusk and
Vernon Johnson with 14 and 13 respectively.Â
For the UNTD women it was never close as the Lady Stars breezed to a 72-40 win. Minus any offensive firepower, Coach
Rodney Belcher's squad managed only 12 points in the first two quarters. The loss also dropped it to 4-12 in league play.
  Â
Tamia Miller, with 10 points, was the lone Trailblazer scoring in double figuresÂ
The Trailblazers return home for a Thursday (Feb. 3) doubleheader against Southwest Christian at the Singing Hills Recreation Center. The women's game tips off at 6 p.m. with the men's game scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
