DALLAS, TX- UNTD women's basketball's inconsistent play continues to plague the Trailblazers as they fall to Texas Wesleyan 78-60 on Thursday night.
The Trailblazers, (2-10, 2-10) have battle numerous teams throughout the season, but have yet to put a complete game together to get critical wins at this time of the year.
In the first quarter, the Rams (10-8, 6-6) took an early lead capitalizing on 6 Trailblazer turnovers and 4 steals while shooting 38% from the floor. The Trailblazers started slower shooting 30% (4-13) from the floor.
In the second quarter, UNTD picked up their offense by shooting 60% from the floor to the Rams' 42% but turnovers continue to haunt the Trailblazers as they turn it over 5 times while TWU stayed steady on offense and took a 38-30 lead to the locker room.
The second half, TWU ran away with the game scoring a game-high 24 points to the Trailblazers 12 points, hitting 8 for 8 from the FT and continued to take care of the ball on offense. The Trailblazers cooled shooting just 4-14 from the field.
The fourth quarter, the Trailblazers continued to battle the Rams as they outscored TWU 18-16, but it wasn't enough to overcome earlier deficits ending in a 78-60 defeat.
Three Trailblazers hit double digits led by
Kayla James and
Sidney McHenry each scoring 13 points.
ZyUnn Cormier also contributed 10 points. McHenry added 9 rebounds and 1 block to her 13 points while James added 3 assists and 2 steals.
The Trailblazers hit the road this Saturday and head to Chickisha, OK to take on the Drovers of USAO. Game time is set for 2pm.
