CHICKASHA, OK- Despite double digit games from
Kayla James and
ZyUnn Cormier, the UNTD women's basketball team falls to USAO 81-51.
The Trailblazers, (2-11, 2-11) haven't found a way to win in Chickasha since UNTD became an athletic department in 2020-21, and they couldn't pull it off on Saturday due to struggling from the field shooting just 30%.Â
In the first quarter, the Drovers (13-6, 9-4) took an early lead capitalizing on out rebounding the Trailblazers 14-8 and shooting 41% from the floor and hitting 3 3-pointers for the quarter.
In the second quarter, UNTD picked up their offense by shooting 41% from the floor led by James and Cormier, but the Drovers took a 41-25 lead heading into the second half.
The second half, USAOÂ ran away with the game outscoring the Trailblazers 40-26. Second chance points and rebounding continues to be a struggle for UNTD as the Drovers outrebounded the Trailblazers 50-31.
In addition to her 13 points,
Kayla James added 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
ZyUnn Cormier scored 11 points and added 1 steal and 5 rebounds.
The Trailblazers are on the road Tuesday night as they take on the Lions of Southwestern Assemblies of God in Waxahachie, TX.
