Morgan Strawder sets a new season-high with 15 points as the Trailblazers fall to the Eagles Thursday night in the 72-44 defeat.
JBU (9-3, 6-0) jumped out to an early lead starting the game with an 11-0 run that ended with
De'Asia Johnson's 3-point basket with 3:45 to go in the first quarter. JBU took their first quarter 19-7 momentum into the second quarter where the lead by as many as 17 points in the first half, taking a 38-22 at the break. Eagles Bella Irlenborn and UNTD's
Morgan Strawder lead their teams in the first half with 10 points and the Eagles shooting 38% from the field to UNTD's 33%.
The third quarter saw a momentum shift as the Trailblazers (1-6, 1-6) outscored the Eagles 16-8 closing their deficit to just 8 points.
Kayla James lead the charge scoring 6 of her 13 points in the Trailblazers third quarter run.
It was all JBU in the 4th quarter as the Trailblazers scoring came to a halt where they were outscored 26-6.
Strawder, the junior from Houston, TX finished the night with 15 points, finishing 6-15 from the field and 3-6 from behind the arc.
Kayla James, the junior from Grand Prairie, finished with 13 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in 39 minutes of play.
Tarrah Stephens lead all scorers with 20 points going a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. She was followed by Irlenborn who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes of play.
The Trailblazes are back in action on Saturday, January 6th at home as the take on the Stars of Oklahoma City. Game time is set for 2pm at Trinity Basin.
