Trailblazers drop opener at Texas Wesleyan Classic

FORT WORTH, Texas – University of North Texas at Dallas women's basketball opened the 2024-25 season with a 67-52 setback to Friends University on day one of the Texas Wesleyan Classic on Friday. The Trailblazers (0-1) were outdone 25-9 in the fourth quarter as the Falcons (2-2) shot 62.5 percent (10-16) from the field in that frame.

Two free throws by sophomore De'Asia Johnson (Dallas, Texas) knotted the score heading into intermission.

Friends pushed a third quarter lead to as many as six (37-31) through the first three minutes of the game. A layup by Dugan and the next five consecutive points from Bills with a trifecta and jumper gave UNTD a narrow 38-37 lead at 5:47 in the quarter. Leads traded sides before a three-minute drought held both teams searching for momentum.
