Mya Bills goes 7-10 from behind the arc to lift UNTD over the Stars of OCU.
Mya Bills, a junior guard from Forney, TX, Started the game hot scoring UNTD's first 11 points on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena. The Trailblazers (4-14, 4-14), scored 19 points to take an early lead over OCU 19-16 after one quarter of play. The Stars took control of the second quarter, however, outscoring the Trailblazers 12-5 off of play from Amaya Gordon, Ray Osborn and Cacie Gorman. The Trailblazers scoring cooled quickly and the Stars took a 28-23 lead into halftime.
The Third quarter was more of the same from the Stars as they outscored the Trailblazers 17-11, 10 of those points coming from Gordon. The Stars got out to a game high 15 point lead at one point in the third quarter and after 3 had a comfortable 45-35 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Trailblazers didn't back down and put on a full court press for much of the 4th quarter to tie the game with 3:40 to go off a
Sanaa Murphy-Showers basket in the paint.With one minute to go in regulation,
Mya Bills gave the Trailblazers a one point lead 53-52, and the score went back and forth until the Stars tied the game 56-56 with 11 seconds to go after 2 made free throws by Amaya Gordon.
After the timeout, the Trailblazers came down the floor and
Mya Bills gets with win with a 3 point made basket with 2 seconds remaining.Â
Bills ended the game with 23 points and 3 rebounds in 27 minutes of play.
ZyUnn Cormier added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals.
For the Stars, Amaya Gordon led all scorers with 24 points.
The Trailblazers are back home on Thursday, February 15th as they take on Southwestern Christian University. Game time is at 6pm
