Dallas, TX- The UNTD men's basketball ends their fall 2023 semester with a tough loss to the SAGU Lions 86-83. With about 12 seconds left in the game, the Trailblazers had a chance to tie the game with a good look from behind the arc, but the shot falls just a little long. With 4 ties and 3 lead changes where the largest lead for either team was 8 points, these teams were matched closely in many ways. The largest discrepancy has plagued the trailblazers so far this semester was the free throw line. Where the Lions shot 29-32 for 90%, UNTD shot 18-25 for 72%.
In this back and forth match-up with SAGU, it was all
Kanntrell Burney for UNTD. The senior transfer, from Dallas, TX, led the Trailblazers with 28 points including a season high, 7 three-pointers.
Vernon Johnson and
Cobe Dillard each added 12 points for UNTD, followed by
Connor Kern who added 9 points and 11 rebounds.
Four lions put up double digit numbers, with CJ Hall leading all scorer's with 30. Noah Boling, JJ Boling and CJ Kelley followed with 15, 13 and 13 respectively.
This was the last game for the UNTD men's basketball team for the fall 2023 semester. The Trailblazers, 1-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference look to change their momentum going into the final 2 months of the conference season and open up play at home against John Brown on January 4th.
