Norman, OK- The UNTD Trailblazer track and field took a road trip to the University of Oklahoma for the JD martin Invitational to kick off the indoor season. Nearly 30 teams from Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico traveled to Norman competing in 30 events for the first indoor meet of the year. 

On the men's side, 11 different teams ranging from junior college to NCAA Division I competed in 15 events on the day. For the UNTD men's track team, the Trailblazers saw promising performances from their young squad. Devin Page, a freshman from Desoto High School, finished 2nd in the 600 yard event with a time of 1:14.98. Ernest Ayunago, a freshman from Desoto, TX finished 11th in the 200 meters with a time of 23.47The men's 4 x 400 took a 4th place finish. The relay team comprised of freshman Devin Page, Makya Beacham, Ernest Ayanugo and Major McGill finished with a time of 3:32.51

On the women's side 15 different teams from across 3 states competed in 15 different events on the day. Freshman Sa'Nyia Persley from Lancaster HS, finished the 60 meters hurdles with an 8th place overall in a time of 9.62. Graduate student, Malaisha Cartwright, finished 16th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.93. Freshman Tekevia Jones, Jadalyn Jacobs and Desiree Sheffield finished 16, 17 and 18 in the 200 meters with times of 27.61, 27. 64 and 27.65.

The men's and women's track teams will continue their indoor season in January as they head to McNeese State on January, 29th.
