UNT Dallas among 2026 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Announcement

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced final rosters and entry lists for the 2026 Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
 
University of North Texas at Dallas men's track and field had two events qualify with the 4x100 Meter Relay and 4x400 Meter Relay. This is the first year that UNT Dallas will compete at nationals.
 
The historic feat began with the 4x100m relay claiming the Trailblazers' first NAIA National Qualifier with a 40.88 record-setting mark at the 2026 War Hawk Classic. Jackson Danner, Ernest Ayanugo, Markevian White, and Ben Perin led the achievement. This unit also gained history for the men's track and field program by becoming the first conference championship team at the Red River Athletic Conference Championships. The event title was earned with a 40.91 time.
 
UNT Dallas is No. 22 out of 30 teams on the entries. St. Thomas (Fla.) leads with a 39.91 mark.
 
At the RRAC Championships, the Trailblazers had their second event punch a ticket to nationals with the 4x400m relay notching a school record mark 3:13.15 and nearly taking a second relay event title. At that moment, UNT Dallas was ranked No. 9 and fell to No. 5 Xavier (La.) in the conference championships with 3:11.57 being the winning result. The Trailblazers check into this entry at No. 14 out of 25.

The national championships will be held May 20-22 at Asheville, N.C., at Karl Straus Track. The 4x100m relay prelims will be May 20 at 2:30 p.m. (CST), while the 4x400m relay prelims will be May 21 at 7:45 p.m. (CTS). Both event finals are on May 22 with the 4x100m relay at 2:05 p.m (CST). and 4x400m relay at 4:20 p.m (CST).
