WAXAHACHIE, TX- Inconsistencies in the second half have continued to plaque the Trailblazers as they lose fourth in a row on Tuesday night.
The Trailblazers', (5-12, 4-10), traveled to down the road to Waxahachie to take on the Lions (14-7, 10-4), of SAGUÂ looking to put together a complete game to pick up a much needed Sooner Athletic Conference win.Â
Once again, UNTD put together a strong first half despite falling behind 40-32 heading into the second half.
Jayden Johnson-Blair led the Trailblazers in the first half scoring 10 of his 13points in the first 20 minutes. John-Blair finished the game with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists for the Trailblazers. UNTD as a team struggled from the field shooting just 31% from the floor including just 25% from behind the arc. The Lions, though, shot 42% from the floor including shooting 7-17 from the 3-point line, all while being led by Cortland Blake who led all scorers at the half with 13.
It would be more of Cortland Blake for the Lions in the second half as he added 17 second half points to lead all scorers with 30. The Lions took advantage of 8 second half turnovers for UNTD with 7 steals outscoring the Trailblazers 53-36. While the Trailblazers shot better in the second half going 15-33 from the field, the Lions shot 62% from the floor.
UNTDÂ saw 9Â Trailblazes score in addition to Johnson-Blair.
Cobe Dillard and
Kanntrell Burney both added 9 points.
The Trailblazers are back home on Thursday, February 1, as they host Central Christian College at 8pm.
