UNTD Men's Track score several PR's at SAC Champs

FORT WORTH, Texas – Several Personal Bests were achieved for the University of North Texas at Dallas track and field teams, as the final day of the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships concluded on a hot Saturday afternoon at Karen Cramer Field. After a strong showing on Friday, the Trailblazers notched personal records among sprinters on the men's side.
 
The men's 4x400 Meter Relay capped the championships by hanging within the top three of its heat down the stretch and posted the unit's fastest time of the spring. It gave UNTD three relay teams with times that were the quickest on the season with the 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, and 4x800m relay. The Trailblazers had a few notable finishes in the top eight score points, with their highest individual finishes in fourth place either Friday or Saturday. The men's team claimed the most points in a SAC Championship in three seasons with 22 points and an 11th place finish.
 
Freshman Markevian White (Longview, Texas) registered personal records in the 100-Meter Dash and 200-Meter Dash on Saturday. White scored four points and was fifth with a 10.71 time in the 100m. His PR of 21.94 came in the 200m a few events later on Saturday. He also helped the 4x100m relay squad on Friday to its season-best time. This was the third time this month that White has performed on three events.
 
Sophomore Devin Page (DeSoto, Texas) scored two points in the 800 Meters, while freshman Skylar Evans (Dallas, Texas) reflected a PR of 2:00.34. Page's classmate Major McGill IV (Forney, Texas) ran his season-best time on the 800m with a 2:05.10 and for consecutive weekends was two seconds faster than his previous spring times.
 
Freshmen Kenya Singletary led the Trailblazers with fastest time in the 200m (21.90), while White and sophomore Ernest Ayanugo (DeSoto, Texas) secured their fastest times in the event of their collegiate careers on the event. Ayanugo clocked a 22.35 time.
 
Freshman Keilond Wright (Paris, Texas) scored a point for the team in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:01.21.
 
Freshmen Jahaden Jackson (The Colony, Texas) joined Page, McGill IV, and Wright on setting a season-best time on the 4x400m Relay.
 
Interim Head Coach Knashia Dawson stated she was so proud of her team and complimented their efforts in working hard throughout the year and now seeing that pay off.
 
Wayland Baptist men's track and field won first place with 152 points, while Texas Wesleyan came in second with 147. Nelson rounded out the top three with 134 points.
