ARLINGTON, Texas – University of North Texas at Dallas men's track and field had a great start with its outdoor season debut under first-year head coach Darvis "Doc" Patton, as the Trailblazers shattered a trio of program records and set the tone for spring at the UTA Invitational on Saturday.

Markevian White and Benjamin Perin highlighted the Trailblazers in the short distance events with record-setting performances.

White finished third with a school record result of 10.57 seconds in the 100m. He was six seconds away from the event title and battled competitors from NCAA Division I host UT-Arlington and NCAA Division II Dallas Baptist. White's result broke his own record of 10.71 set at the SAC Championships on April 25-26, 2025.

Ernest Ayanugo was another Trailblazer delivering a fast time as his personal record 10.72 nearly matched the previous record time and was good enough for 12th.

Perin posted a record-setting result of 21.54 in the 200m that counted for sixth place. His time toppled the old mark by Kenya Singletary (21.70) set at Louisiana Tech Jim Mize Invitational on April 19, 2025.

The 4x100 Relay was the final record that fell as Jackson Danner, Ayanugo, White, and Perin ran a 41.60 time and just clipped the record mark of 41.82 set at the SAC Championships last year. White and Ayanugo were also part of that quartet. Bryson Mcrae and Singletary were the other members of that previous group.

Korey Grant earned PRs on his two races with the 400m time of 56.82 and 800m time of 2:11.17. Major McGill IV notched a PR in the 400m with a time of 54.70. Santos Vega had a PR in the 1500m with a time of 4:36.33.
