ABILENE, Texas – University of North Texas at Dallas men's track and field team traveled West of the metroplex to NCAA Division III McMurry University for its annual Warhawk Classic competition. Weather canceled several events over the weekend, but the Trailblazers were able to compile productive results for Head Coach Darvis "Doc" Patton in the final stretch before Red River Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks.

The Trailblazers placed their pair of runners, Markevian White and Ben Perin, in the top three of the 100m results. White was .02 seconds away from tying the best time by East Texas Baptist's Brenton Hardin. White officially claimed second place with a 10.56, while Perin was third at 10.61. The field had 15 total athletes, with times in the top eight registering at 10.70. Most of the competitors were NCAA DIII, but this race did see the Trailblazers boast quickest NAIA times among their organization counterparts Nelson and Paul Quinn.

White and Perin continue to jostle for the fastest time in the 100m, as each are tied for a program record that the duo set in separate meets. Both have traded turns in the top spot of this short-distance event this spring.

The deepest event for the men's side at the Warhawk Classic was the 400m, as Ernest Ayanguo led a quartet of Trailblazers with their team's quickest time of 49.92 missing the record by 0.10 ticks. Ayanugo claimed 17th within a field that featured 47 participants. He also led the UNTD quartet with season-best times that included a trio of personal records. Julian Adigler earned a collegiate PR with a time of 52.51, while Keilond Wright ran in his first 400m this season and Korey Grant also claimed a PR.

Santos Vega claimed a personal record and the team's top season mark in the 1500m this spring with a 4:31.24 result.

The 4x100m relay squad reset the outdoor record time with a new time of 40.88 and for second place - falling by 0.03 seconds to the event winners, East Texas Baptist. UNT Dallas had Danner, Ayanugo, White, and Perin in this relay. This event had 10 teams, including Nelson which was a fourth-place result.

Bryson Mcrae competed in the only field event for the Trailblazers, which as a season-best result in the Long Jump with a 7.05m post and fourth. Mcrae set his school record mark in the event at the 2025 War Hawk Classic a year ago with a 7.20m result.

UNT Dallas heads to the Bill Schmidt Invite at North Texas in Denton, Texas, on April 17-18.
