ABILENE, Texas – University of North Texas at Dallas women's track and field team traveled West of the metroplex to NCAA Division III McMurry University for its annual Warhawk Classic competition. Weather canceled several events over the weekend, but the Trailblazers were able to compile productive results for Head Coach Darvis "Doc" Patton in the final stretch before Red River Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks.

A pair of women's track records were shattered to highlight the shortened competition that only featured four events. Naomi Peregrina ran in her first 1500m race this season and posted a school record 5:23.33 result. That toppled the old mark of 6:21.42) set by Yessica Araiza in March of 2021 at PVAMU Relays.

Speaking of Relays, the 4x100m Relay saw another program milestone with a 48.79 time for second place.

The Trailblazers were 0.02 seconds off a tie with NCAA Division II Angelo State with a 48.79 time. Jocelyn Owens, Ashli Barron, Jada Cole, and Quintasia Isby were part of that dynamic group.

Jada Cole made her season debut in the shot put with an 8.34m throw.

Rounding out the results was Jarina Williams, who ran around a 1:05 time for the consecutive tries in the 400m. She was a few ticks away from eclipsing her own PR in the event.

UNT Dallas heads to the Bill Schmidt Invite at North Texas in Denton, Texas, on April 17-18.
