Barron Wins 100m, 200m; 3rd in Track MVP, as Trailblazers Conclude RRAC Championships

NEW ORLEANS – University of North Texas at Dallas women's track and field team completed the RRAC Track & Field Championships at Tad Gormley Stadium this Saturday.
 
Ashli Barron headlined the Trailblazers results with event wins on the 100m and 200m, as she became the first women's track athlete to win multiple conference championships. She also ranked third in Female – Track MVPs with 23.5 points. Participating in the first Red River Athletic Conference Championships, the Trailblazers came in fourth place with 60 points and had five events qualified as all-conference with a top four finish.

Barron notched a personal record 12.22 mark in the 100m to capture the gold medal. That time is ranked No. 62 in NAIA. Barron claimed another short-distance gold in the 200m with a 24.63 time that is nationally ranked No. 26.
 
Barron's top-three spot in the MVP for track athletes was powered by the pair of 10-point scores in her event wins. She also claimed two points in the 4x400m relay that was second place with a 4:30.25 time. She also had 1.5 points in the 4x100m relay from Friday that was third.
 
Naomi Peregrina came in second place with a 5:24.39 time in the 1500m race, as she earned eight points.

Quintasia Isby ran a PR in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:13.49.
 
Peregrina and Rebekah Munoz each notched PRs in the 800m with respective times of 2:29.07 and 2:52.77.

Munoz added a PR in the 1500m with a 6:05.35 time.
 
On the field events, Jada Cole hit a season-best result of 8.88m.

Headlining Friday's results for the Trailblazers were two relay squads making all-conference in the Red River Athletic Conference with third place finishes. The 4x100 Meter Relay that consisted of Jocelyn Owens, Ashley Barron, Jada Cole, and Quintasia Isby ran a 49.31. The 4x800 Meter Relay was the first competed by the program and an 11:00.22 was earned by Naomi Peregrina, Madison Blanch, Jarina Williams, and Rebekah Munoz.
 
Two personal records got set by the remaining UNTD individuals that performed this afternoon. Blanch scored a 20.85m result in the Javelin Throw for sixth place. Williams ran 1:04.95 in the 400-Meter Dash for her new fastest mark.
 
The Trailblazers are fifth in the standings with 15 points. The relay squads combined for 12 points with six each, and Blanch scored three points in their only field event to be competed in thus far.

Ryleah Fisher owned the programs lone Track and Field Event Title, which was the 2023 Sooner Athletic Conference Championship Hammer Throw (36.66m) (April 28-29).

There have been nine all-conference winners in the SAC from 2023 and 2024.

Barron's all-conference wins in the 100m and 200m increase the program-lead for accolades in an event to three each. The Trailblazers have had all-conference winners in both events in 2023 (SAC), 2024 (SAC), and 2026 (RRAC).
