DALLAS – UNT Dallas athletics begins its seventh year and sixth as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Trailblazers have featured many unique student-athletes over the years, and we are recognizing their success in the UNT Dallas Trailblazers Spotlight series.
 
RYLEAH FISHER (2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25) was a three-year women's track and field athlete that competed in multiple throwing events. She claimed the first conference event title for the Trailblazers with the 2023 Sooner Athletic Conference Hammer Throw with a 36.66 meter throw (120' 3"). Subsequently, Fisher was also the first UNTD athlete to be named First Team All-Conference with her top podium finish until the 2025-26 season saw men's basketball player Greg Crawford and multiple event title winners by the track and field program at the Red River Athletic Conference Championships.
 
In 2025, Fisher was able to earn a pair of SAC Field Athlete of the Week honors, making her the first women's field athlete at UNT Dallas to be tabbed with the feat.
 
Fisher's impact on UNT Dallas impacted beyond the field of play, as she was featured on Inside the Sooner.
 
Fisher was a student leader that was deeply rooted in several UNTD opportunities including: Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, the ASL Club, Blazzerettes, Black Student Union, and SGA board.   
 
Fisher studied Criminal Justice and was a first-generation college graduate. She achieved NAIA Scholar-Athlete and was named to the UNTD Athletic Director List all four years she was eligible once it was instituted. Fisher also made the 2024-25 SAC Scholar-Athlete list and was part of SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, and Academic All-SAC.
 
Fisher had one of the more unique "Senior Days" for the Trailblazers as she was the lone senior in the track and field program in 2024-25. As a member of the dance team performing at the men's and women's basketball games, Fisher was able to join her fellow classmates on the court and be recognized as a May graduate for her achievements at UNT Dallas.
