UNT Dallas Men's Basketball 2025-26 Season Review

DALLAS – University of North Texas at Dallas men's basketball completed its sixth season, all under Head Coach Josh Howard. The Trailblazers posted an 11-16 overall record and 10-12 conference record in their first season as part of the Red River Athletic Conference. The Trailblazers notched their highest seed in postseason history with the No. 6 spot in the RRAC Men's Basketball Tournament, falling at No. 3 Xavier University of Louisiana.

- Trailblazers Usher RRAC and Trinity Leadership Public School ERA with OT Victory! Recap
UNT Dallas was able to capture the RRAC opener and first contest at Trinity Leadership Public School with an 87-81 overtime win over University of the Southwest. Dreyon Thornton scored eight of his 11 points in the extra frame to propel the Trailblazers on top. Greg Crawford had 14 points and seven boards, while DaRyan Williams notched a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 12 boards.
 
- UNT Dallas Comes Back Over Saints! Recap
It was a big comeback for the Trailblazers against one of the top four teams in the RRAC at the time, Our Lady of the Lake University. Falling 108-78 in the first meeting and quickly behind 9-2 and then 21-8 it appeared like a long night ahead for the Trailblazers. The home team got back into the game with a 13-2 run and was behind 34-31 at intermission. From there it was a strong 51.7 second half shooting percentage and 15 points from Greg Crawford to defend home court. Demaryon Thornton had a trio of three-pointers in the last 20 minutes and four overall for all points.
 
- Senior Day Win! Recap
The Trailblazers never trailed, as they went on to win by 20 points on "Senior Day." Demaryon Thornton, Orion Virden, Julius Morris, DaRyan Williams, Greg Crawford were honored at the game and formed the starting lineup in the last regular season game. Virden led with 17 points and 5-of-9 from three-point range. Sedric Curry Jr. had 15 points, and Thornton added 11. Crawford and Williams led the team on the glass with 14 and nine rebounds, respectively. Morris tossed in a season-high for scoring.

The Trailblazers picked up their first home win in front of a big crowd during Homecoming, as they edged Wiley University, 76-68, at Ellis Davis Field House. An eight-point swing in the final five minutes determined the outcome as each side was one-point better in each half of regulation. Greg Crawford recorded a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. DaRyan Williams had 18 points and nine rebounds, while JT Curry had 12 points and nine rebounds. Demaryon Thornton added 12 points to give a quartet of starters double figures.
 
- Big RRAC Win at Jarvis Christian Secures RRAC Berth! Recap
The Trailblazers were led in the second half by Greg Crawford and Orion Virden to a 72-65 victory at Jarvis Christian University late in the season. The win helped clinch a RRAC Men's Basketball Tournament spot and was key in separating the lower seeds with less than four games remaining. Crawford matched a season-high 26 points and had 13 boards as part of a double-double. Virden tossed in 16 points with four triples, and Demaryon Thornton had 12 points.
