Langston, OK- The #3 Lions from Langston University were too much for UNTD as they extended their 6 point half-time lead to over 20 in their 79-54 victory on Monday night. The Trailblazers battled in the first half and early in second, but 3-point shooting and rebounding plaqued UNTD shooting just 19% from the arc and out rebounded 40-24. In a physical game that saw 42 fouls and 41 trips to the free throw line, the Trailblazers shot 70% to the lions 86% from behind the line.
The Trailblazers, 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the SAC, had 3 in double figures led by
Kanntrell Burney. The senior transfer from Dallas, TX scored 15 points off the bench for UNTD. Senior,
Tariq Aman and junior,
Vernon Johnson added 13 and 10 points, respectively. Johnson also added a team high 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
For Langston, 9-0 overall and 4-0 in the SAC, Anthony Roy led all scorers with 29 points. Roy also added 11 rebounds and was 10-10 from the free throw line.
The Trailblazers are home for their last game of the semester as they take on another tough conference opponent, Southwestern Assemblies of God, on December 16th at 4pm. The game will be played at Dallas College-Cedar Valley.
