DALLAS, TX- Texas Wesleyan's second half run outlasts the Trailblazers 77-70.
Thursday night proved to be a tough one as the Trailblazers saw their half time lead disappear as poor shot decision-making and being unable to stop the Rams as the end of the game led to a critical loss as the Trailblazers sit in the 8th spot of the Sooner Athletic Conference standings. Each win at this time of the year can make or break a team's postseason dreams so wins are crucial. The Trailblazers', (5-10, 4-8), though have a lot of basketball left and can bounce back after the loss.
The first half showed the team that UNTD has shown itself to be taking a 4-33 lead into the locker room off of strong play from seniors
Tariq Aman and
Kanntrell Burney scoring half of the Trailblazers' points in the first half. Offensively, the Trailblazers shot 42% from the floor including 50% from behind the arc. The Rams shot 36% from the field and 33% from behind the arc.Â
The second half, the Trailblazers went cold shooting just 32% and going 0-3 from the 3-point line. The Rams capitalized on the Trailblazers' slow offense by shooting 46% from the field hit 4 of 6 from behind the arc to upend the Trailblazers 77-70.
UNTD was led by
Tariq Aman who finished the game with 14 points with
Kanntrell Burney following closely behind with 11 points.
The Trailblazers hit the road this Saturday and head to Chickisha, OK looking for a bounce back win against the USAO Drovers. The men will tip immediately following the women's game at approximately 4:00pm.
