UNTD Track and Field prepares for SAC Conference Outdoor Championships

DALLAS, TX- The UNTD track and field teams head to Siloam Springs, AR this weekend to vy for a Sooner Athletic Conference championship and NAIA national qualifying times.

On the women's side, veteran Malaisha Cartwright, will participate in 3 events, the 100m, 200m and the 4X100 relay. Cartwright finished runner up in both the 100m and the 200m at last year's conference meet and is looking to qualify for nationals for the third time in her career.

Freshmen Tekevia Jones and Jordyn Stephens are also competing in three events in the 100m, 200m and 4X100 relay alongside Cartwright.

Freshman Jadalyn Jacobs will compete in the 400m and freshman Sa'Nyia Persley will compete in the 100m hurdles and finish with the 4X100 meter relay with Jones, Stephens and Cartwright.

Sophomore Ryleah Fisher will compete in the shot put and discuss on the field event side.

On the men's side, 6 athletes will compete in 6 events with freshman standout, Devin Page, competing in 3 events, the 800m, the 1500m and the 4X400 meter relay. Page, is 4 seconds off the qualifying time in the 800 meter in order to compete in his first NAIA national championship.

Freshmen Ernest Ayanugo and Markell Sanders will compete in both the 100m and the 200m. Ayanugo will also run the 4X400 meter relay. Freshmen Braden Nevarez and Makya Beacham will run the 400m sprint with Beacham also running the 4X400 meter relay.

Freshman Major McGill IV will join Page in running the 800m and will take the final spot in the 4X400 meter relay.

In total, 10 SAC teams will compete for the Outdoor Championship hosted by the Golden Eagles of John Brown University for a team championship as well as NAIA National qualifying times. For many, this will be the last chance to qualify for the championships being held at Indiana Wesleyan University May 22-24.
