DALLAS – University of North Texas at Dallas women's basketball added a familiar face to its staff for the upcoming 2025-26 season with first-year Head Coach Otis Nicksion naming alumna Mykayla Dumas ('23) as an Assistant Coach. Dumas begins her first season in this capacity with the Trailblazers but brings a unique pedigree to the program as the first UNT Dallas women's basketball player to complete her bachelor's and master's degree. With UNT Dallas, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in May 2022. She followed that with her Master of Science in Criminal Justice in May 2024.

Dumas was part of the inaugural year the Trailblazers began in 2020-21 and competed in three seasons which included the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons with the program entering NAIA and the Sooner Athletic Conference. Dumas combined for 429 points, 168 rebounds, 74 assists, 12 blocks, and 51 steals across two years in the SAC. Her best season came in 2021-22 where she led the squad in field goals (118), free throws (58), assists (54), and steals (34).

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dumas played at Seminole State College from 2017-22, where she earned two Associate of Science degrees in Health, Physical Education & Recreation and in General Studies.

Dumas was part of a 5A State Championship with East Central High School, garnering First Team honors for the All-State Tournament, All-Vype, and Green Country All-Conference.

"I am grateful for the chance to give back to the program that shaped me and to help mentor and develop the next generation of Trailblazers," Dumas stated.
