Vega earns All-RRAC; Trailblazers gain 3rd with Seven PR's at Championship

TEXARKANA, Texas – All seven competitors from University of North Texas at Dallas men's cross country broke personal records to boast the team's overall performance at its first Red River Athletic Conference Championship on Friday at A&M-Texarkana. The Trailblazers made history with their first all-conference recipient, as Santos Vega (Houston, Texas) finished in the top 15 individually.
 
Vega notched a school record in the 8k race with a time of 27:10.56. Major McGill IV (Forney, Texas) and Skylar Evans (Dallas, Texas) went back-to-back in the standings to give the Trailblazers a trio within the top-20 places. McGill IV set a PR time of 28:00.46, while Evans came in 3.27 seconds behind.
 
Devin Page (DeSoto, Texas) clocked a time of 28:39.92 for 25th place. Korey Grant (Weatherford, Texas) ran a PR of 31:42.52), while Keilond Wright (Paris, Texas), and Ernest Ayanugo (DeSoto, Texas) shaved over a minute each on personal-best times respectively at 33:35.14 and 35:29.56.
 
UNT Dallas came in third as a team with 99 points and is the highest finish at a cross country competition and any conference championship since the program began in 2020.
 
Our Lady of the Lake claimed the RRAC Championship with 22 points and host A&M-Texarkana came in second with 37 points. The Trailblazers defeated University of the Southwest (113 points) and Xavier-Louisiana (120).
 
First-year Head Coach "Doc" Patton guided the Trailblazers to this strong finish after they began the season on October 11. The team had three races total with each being an 8k distance.
