Johnson claims 2nd RRAC Player of the Week Award this Season

WACO, Texas – Junior De'Asia Johnson (Dallas, Texas) was named Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for contests played from December 1-7. Johnson earns her second RRAC Player of the Week this season, the first the Trailblazers have been members of the league. Johnson matches ZyUnn Cormier for having earned a conference weekly honor twice all-time. Cormier earned Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week in 2022-23.
 
Johnson recorded a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 14 rebounds against OLLU, leading UNT Dallas to a 73-63 victory. She added one assist, five steals, and two blocks. Johnson tallied nine points and 11 rebounds against Texas A&M-San Antonio to help average a double-double on the week. Johnson added three assists and two steals in that game.
 
Johnson is second in the RRAC in total rebounds with 41 and averages 8.2 per game. In addition, she ranks fourth in the league with 16 steals and sixth with 11 assists.
 
UNT Dallas is 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
 
UNT Dallas plays Texas State University in an exhibition on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. before resuming RRAC play back home at Trinity Leadership Public School on Thursday against Xavier University of Louisiana and Saturday against North American.
