DALLAS – UNT Dallas athletics begins its seventh year and sixth as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Trailblazers have featured many unique student-athletes over the years, and we are recognizing their success in the UNT Dallas Trailblazers Spotlight series.

ZYUNN CORMIER (2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24) was a four-year women's basketball player that was part of the inaugural campaign for the Trailblazers. Cormier was a lethal shooter for the Trailblazers, cultivated across three seasons in the NAIA and Sooner Athletic Conference. Cormier became the first basketball player (men's and women's team) to eclipse 1,000 career points in the program and remains the women's basketball all-time leader with 1,042. (*note stats from 2020-21 are inconclusive and unknown so this mark is official but could be higher).

Cormier also is listed in several other scoring categories for the Trailblazers which will be listed further below. She is the career record holder for field goals, three-point field goals, free throws, and points, points-per-game. Cormier owns the single-game records for free throws, field goals on three occasions in 2023 and three-point field goals on a trio of times in the 2022 and 2023. She also scored the most points (23) by an individual to cap her milestone season in 2022-23. That win over Central Christian (101-42) is the most points for UNT Dallas women's basketball in history and was part of Cormier's individual effort being the catalyst for the team's best season in the SAC (9 wins).

Cormier's stats from 2022-23 remain tops in the record book including 157 field goals, 51 three-point field goals, 422 points, and 19.2 points-per-game. Cormier was named All-SAC Second Team that year and a two-time SAC Player of the Week. Until 2025-26, Cormier was the only member of the UNTD women's basketball team to be a weekly honor recipient multiple times.

Cormier was a two-time member of the UNT Dallas Athletic Director's List. She was on SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic All-SAC. Cormier graduated with a degree in Accounting.

Cormier etched her name in the UNTD women's basketball record books over her playing career and remains atop in several categories already mentioned.
