DALLAS – UNT Dallas athletics begins its seventh year and sixth as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Trailblazers have featured many unique student-athletes over the years, and we are recognizing their success in the UNT Dallas Trailblazers Spotlight series.
 
SHANDREA YELDELL (2020-21, 2021-22, 2024-25, 2025-26) was another pillar for the UNT Dallas women's basketball team by beginning with the inaugural year of the program, first year affiliated with NAIA and Sooner Athletic Conference, and competed in the team's first season with the Red River Athletic Conference last year.
 
Yeldell completed her final campaign ranked tied fourth in the nation with 108 steals. That mark was second-most in the RRAC. Yeldell also cracked top five in the RRAC with fourth most assists with 121. This same season saw the senior also become the third player in the program to eclipse a 30-point performance. It was the seventh game the Trailblazers had an individual achieve that statistic. She scored double figures in 12 games. Yeldell also was able to notch record-setting performances in a game this season for assists and steals. It led the point guard to setting game, season, and career record numbers in the pair of categories.
 
Yeldell scored 578 points in three seasons with the Trailblazers competing NAIA. (Note stats in 2020-21 were not recorded and countable for Yeldell.)  
 
Yeldell was named All-RRAC Second Team and RRAC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Yeldell etched her name in the UNTD women's basketball record book over her career and holds single game, single season, and career records.
