UNT Dallas Women's Basketball 2025-26 Season Review

DALLAS – University of North Texas at Dallas women's basketball completed its sixth season and put together its best campaign since 2022-23. Under first-year head coach Otis Nicksion, the Trailblazers posted an 11-14 overall record and 10-12 conference record in their first season as part of the Red River Athletic Conference. The Trailblazers notched their highest seed in postseason history with the No. 6 spot in the RRAC Women's Basketball Tournament, falling at No. 3 Texas A&M-Texarkana. The 10 wins were the most in a conference season and 11 wins tied the second-most in a season from 2022-23. 12 wins is the highest mark from 2021-22.

- Trailblazers Ride Momentum in RRAC and Trinity Leadership Public School ERA with Triumph! Recap
UNT Dallas was able to capture the RRAC opener and first contest at Trinity Leadership Public School with an 86-66 win over University of the Southwest. The Trailblazers got early momentum with a 27-12 first quarter lead and rode the wave to a winning record at the time (2-1) and largest margin for victory early in the season. It was a balanced scoring effort with 10 players tallying at least four points and led by a quartet of double-digit scorers: ShanDrea Yeldell (15), Jade Myles (13), De'Asia Johnson (12), and Kayden Riley (10).

It was a successful Senior Day for the Trailblazers as a quartet of players with at least three playing seasons got to put on an all-around performance in front of the UNTD faithful at Trinity Leadership a final time. In what was a competitive game for three quarters, the Trailblazers got timely kicks in the second and fourth quarter, eventually pulling away and ending the regular season on a positive note. Yeldell led all players with 14 points, while grabbing seven boards, dishing six assists, and swiping four steals in her last home game. Fellow classmates Allysa Pendley and Kayln Minors eclipsed double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Myles tossed in 13 points.

The Trailblazers earned payback after falling by three points on the road with a victory by the same margin to LSU-Alexandria in the final home weekend. After falling 71-68 in Alexandria, the Trailblazers got key plays to go their way this matchup and the extra six points led to a triumph. It snapped a four-game winning streak for the Generals and propelled UNTD out of a three-way tie for seeds 6-8 in the RRAC Tournament. Yeldell led with 16 points and Myles was right behind with 15. Beauvais had a big game with 13 points, and Minor added 10 from the bench.

The Trailblazers spent three quarters potentially becoming the first conference victory for Louisiana Christian (0-10), but a 15-0 run catapulted them to a 79-72 final in Pineville, Louisiana. It extended what would be the team's longest winning streak of the year at four games and is the longest since the program began in the NAIA in 2021-22 where it opened on a six-game streak to start the year. Johnson notched a double-double with 28 points (career-best) and 10 boards, while Anderson added a career-high 20 points and the duo scored 25 of the team's 27 fourth quarter points. Pendley tied career-highs in points (15) and rebounds (13) from an early season game in 2022.
 
- Minor hits late basket to Propel Trailblazers Over Paul Quinn! Recap
The Trailblazers earned their first win of the 2025-26 season with a 74-73 win over Paul Quinn University. Kaylyn Minor, who had 12 points, was able to score the go-ahead basket with one second remaining to steal a back-and-forth thriller against a local opponent that is 10 minutes down the road from UNTD's campus. Johnson scored a team-high 20 points, while Myles matched Minor with 12 points. Ke'Liyah Anderson and Yeldell each had 10 points. It was the first win of Coach Nicksion's UNTD career and began a stretch of four-of-five victories early in the year.
 
STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
2025-26 Season Stats
- De'Asia Johnson ranked top five in the RRAC with 16.3 points-per-game (2nd) and 7.7 rebounds-per-game (4th).
- ShanDrea Yeldell finished second in the RRAC for steals (108) and tied third for assists (121). She had led prior to postseason play. Yeldell at one point was ranked second in the nation for steals and finished tied fourth in that category.
- Johnson earned led the team with 392 points and 185 rebounds. She registered seven double-doubles and eclipsed double figures in 20 games. Johnson also had 74 steals (8th RRAC). Johnson was the team leader in made three-pointers with 41.
- Yeldell earned the highest scoring game by an individual with 30 points at Our Lady of the Lake (12/6/25). She became just the third player and it was the seventh time a Trailblazer tallied at least that many points.
- Beauvais notched 10 of her 21 blocks in the final three games of the season with at least three in each contest.
- Game Highs
- - UNTD posted game-highs for the season in points at Jarvis Christian (87) and made field goals (36).
- - UNTD made a season-high 12 three-pointers at North American (1/29/26).
- - UNTD set season-highs in rebounds (59) and assists (21) at Southwest to start 2026 (1/3/2026).
- - UNTD ended its season with seven blocks in the final two games to tie the highest total.
