OKLAHOMA CITY – University of North Texas at Dallas men's track and field freshman Bryson Mcrae (Dallas, Texas) claimed this week's Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for his effort this past week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
 
Mcrae made his collegiate debut at the Bill Schmidt Invite hosted by University of North Texas. He placed third in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.93m. Mcrae finished behind a competitor from Texas Tech and Southern Arkansas, as he podiumed in an event with 28 athletes that scored and featured numerous NCAA Division I programs. He also topped opponents from fellow conference teams Nelson and Texas Wesleyan University.
 
Mcrae becomes the first Trailblazer to earn SAC Field Athlete of the Week and the fourth from the program to be named after a trio swept the conference honors earlier this spring.
