RRAC Player of the Week Release

WACO, Texas – Senior ShanDrea Yeldell (Dallas, Texas) was named Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for contests played from January 5-11. This is the 10th set of Player of the Week honors from the league, and the Trailblazers have been honored during three of them.

This marks the most conference weekly awards for University of North Texas at Dallas women's basketball in a season and is the first in the Red River Athletic Conference. De'Asia Johnson (Dallas, Texas) has been named twice with Offensive (Nov. 10-16) and Defensive Player of the Week (Dec. 1-7) honors. ZyUnn Cormier is the other Trailblazer to be selected with a conference player of the week award and earned two in 2022-23 with the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Yeldell highlighted a tenacious Trailblazers' defense that held Texas College and Jarvis Christian (Texas) to less than 50 points in a pair of double-digit victories last week. Yeldell broke the single-game record for steals with 11 and led the team to 28, which matched a program record. Yeldell added three steals against JCU to give her 14 on the week. Yeldell leads the conference with 54 assists and is second with 50 steals.

The triumphs extended the 2026 perfect start and winning streak to three games for UNT Dallas, which is the longest since being accomplished twice in the 2022-23 season. The Trailblazers sit 6-4 overall and 7-5 in conference play as they match their watermark for games over .500 a third time.

UNT Dallas will be at Louisiana Christian University (Jan. 15) and Louisiana State University of Alexandria on (Jan. 17) this week.
