Preview: Women's Basketball Opens RRAC Play vs. Southwest

NEW HOME
- The Trailblazers will play their remaining home games for 2025-26 at Trinity Leadership Public School. Fans will also be able to purchase tickets in advance or at the door to see the Trailblazers in action.
 
LAST TIME OUT
- UNT Dallas defeated Paul Quinn in a 74-73 thriller last week, as Kaylyn Minor (Garland, Texas) sank the winning shot with one second left to flip the score.
- It was the first win on the campaign for the Trailblazers and under first-year head coach Otis Nicksion.
- De'Asia Johnson (Dallas, Texas) scored a career-high 20 points and was named RRAC Offensive Player of the Week.
 
PLAYERS TO WATCH
- De'Asia Johnson (Dallas, Texas) returns for her third season and is the team's returning top producer, as she set season-highs in points (274), points-per-game (9.7), rebounds (146), rebounds-per-game (5.6), and 39 steals.
- ShanDrea Yeldell (Dallas, Texas) will be the floor general in her final campaign with the Trailblazers. An original UNTD women's basketball player with the 2020-21 squad, Yeldell returned for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign and logged 152 points (10.1 ppg), 45 rebounds, 62 assists, and 45 steals.
- Alysa Pendley (Waco, Texas) is another veteran back on the floor that provides depth in the post. Pendley has accumulated 68 blocks in her career.
- Sanaa Murphy-Showers (Plano, Texas) brings a veteran guard that can play multiple positions. She's a savvy senior that amassed a career-high 26 games and 12 starts last year. She totaled 87 points, 71 rebounds, 52 assists, 21 steals, and eight blocks.
- Jade Myles (Dallas, Texas) is a versatile player that arrives from Philander Smith University. The junior played 31 games and made 19 starts for PSU. She tallied 165 points, which included making 27 three-pointers.
- Channing Beauvais (Paradise, Texas) is a true freshman forward that projects to impact the paint.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
- University of the Southwest is 4-2 on the year.
- The Mustangs fell 75-59 at Nelson University (AZ) last Saturday, but that came after defeating the same team the night before, 57-52, in overtime.
- USW was led by Briana Montoya entering the last pair of games with 90 points.
- Southwest was picked seventh in the RRAC Preseason Poll with 61 points.
